I'd like to think of vassals as both an extension of my empire and a friend for more than just roleplay reasons. As well as events that only occur between you and your vassals like great feasts improving(or worsening) relations between vassals, or terrorists from a vassal faction's species sabotaging stuff. Destroy entire worlds with terrifying new planet-killer weapons, fight against (or alongside) ruthless space pirates, and maybe discover a few non-violent. If you can send people between the empires to help each other would also be cool, like having temporary workers from the vassal empire in exchange for trust and influence, or giving your vassal some of your own workers for awhile to gain some trust and loyalty from them. Stellaris: Apocalypse is a full expansion which redefines stellar warfare for all players with a host of new offensive and defensive options. Like only being able to integrate a vassal who's government is similar to yours but you can slowly change their government through situations, propaganda, and maybe even force. It would be nice if these things are included but for a new expansion about vassals, I hope for more than just that. When you conquer someone to vassalize them, mods let you determine what kind of vassal they can be like, a vassal who gives you 40% of their basic resources annually(which I think is vanilla), a vassal that gives you 60% of a resource production (I usually choose alloys), a vassal that gives you it's people every couple of years, and a few other things. As much as I like vassals and am excited that it's officially getting a re-work, I've already played mods that touched this specific area.
